Sahr Emmanuel Borbor has been committed to the High Court for trial on charges of arson, following a ruling by Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3.

Borbor was arrested and charged on February 14, 2025, with the offence of Arson, contrary to Section 3 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, November 9, 2024, at No. 21 Vincent Drive, Second Hill, Kallon Drive, Spur Loop, Wilberforce in Freetown, the accused allegedly set fire to two residential homes belonging to Osman Sama Banya, with the intention of destroying the properties.

During the preliminary investigation, Prosecutor Inspector T. Macfoy presented four witnesses before the court: the complainant, two eyewitnesses, and the investigating police officer.

After hearing the testimonies, Magistrate Kallon ruled that sufficient evidence had been established for the matter to proceed to trial.

“I am satisfied with the evidence presented by the prosecution, and the accused has been cross-examined. Therefore, I commit the matter to the High Court for trial,” she declared.

Borbor will remain in custody pending his appearance before the High Court, where he will face trial on the arson charges.
