Magistrate Mark Ngegba presiding over the Pademba Road Court No.2 on Tuesday 12th July, 2022 remanded Mohamed Bangura after he was arraigned before him on theft allegation.
The accused is facing three counts offences of conspiracy, and two counts of house breaking and larceny contrary to law.
Police alleged that on the 29th June, 2022 at Funkia, Goderich in Freetown the accused conspired together with other persons unknown, broke, entered into the dwelling house of Frances Daramy and Mohamed Alpha Daramy and stole therein items including one Apple mobile phone, Plasma television, physical cash of one thousand United State Dollars, and other assorted items all to the total valued of Le143000.
Led in evidence by Inspector Abdul Tejan Bangura, first prosecution witness, Frances Daramy recalled that on 29th June 2022 she returned home and realized that the door to her apartment had been tampered with.
The witness furthered that when she opened the second door she discovered that her items were scattered and some were missing, adding that she called her uncle Colonel Fanday Turay who advised her to report the matter at the Funkia Police Division.
She told the court that the police went to the scene and took a snap shot of the scene. She also recalled that on the 26th June 2022, the accused allegedly stole two gallons of fuel, after she hired him to tidy up her premises.
Under cross examination by Defense counsel M B Koroma Esq, first prosecution witness disclosed that she did not see the accused on the 29th June, 2022. She further responded that when she entered into her room she did not see anyone.
Lawyer Koroma requested bail for his client citing Section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965. He assured the Magistrate Ngegba that his client will not jump bail if bail was granted.
Magistrate Ngegba remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to the 18th July, 2022.
