John Musa, an 18-year-old, has been handed a two-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916

According to the particulars of the offence, on 31st July 2025, at Momoh Drive, Juba Hill, Freetown, Musa unlawfully entered the dwelling house of Juliana Gbozie and stole several items, including one hot comb, three ladies’ bags, two pairs of slippers, one pair of sandals, one Valencia perfume and cash amounting to Le 6,000

The total value of the stolen items was estimated at Le 9,270.

Appearing before Magistrate Sao Mamakoh Betty Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge and appealed for mercy.

In her ruling, Magistrate Kallon emphasized the importance of personal responsibility, stating:

“I want you to take this as an opportunity to make things right. As long as you are not in conflict with the law, nobody will bring you to court. But if you continue involving yourself in crime, you will be sent to prison and your career will be shattered.”

She noted that although the offence carries a maximum sentence of five years, the court was exercising leniency due to the accused being a first-time offender. As a result, a two-year suspended sentence was imposed.
