Four accused persons Idrissa Kamara, Rahim Kamara, Alie Conteh, and Mohamed Bobson Conteh are currently standing trial before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown.
They are charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.
According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly assaulted one Alpha Yahiya Kargbo on Thursday, 24th October 2024, at Pademba Road, Freetown, inflicting injuries that resulted in actual bodily harm.
During the most recent court session, Defense Counsel A.R. Gbla, representing all four accused, urged the court to consider discharging the matter if the prosecution once again fails to present its witness.
“We have been engaged in this matter for a considerable period. In view of the continued absence of the prosecution’s witness, we respectfully request that the case be discharged should the witness fail to appear again. We also seek to renew and adopt the previous adjournment terms,” Gbla submitted.
In response, Magistrate Jah issued a stern final warning:
“If the prosecution fails to proceed on the next adjourned date and does not produce the witness, the matter will be discharged.”
The case has been adjourned to 14th July 2025 for further proceedings.
