22-year-old Mohamed Kalokoh Kamara, a motorbike rider, made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two counts ranging from Robbery with Aggravation, contrary to section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No.16 of 1971.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at Damaya Hill Station in the Mountain Rural District of the Western Area in Freetown, being armed with a knife, Mohamed Kalokoh Kamara robbed Isatu Kanu of her black pair of slippers, black-colored jeans, two ladies’ dresses, and physical cash of one hundred Leones, amounting to a total of five hundred and fifty Leones (550), property of Isatu Kanu.
On count two, on the same date and place, the accused person, being armed with a knife, robbed Sunny Pujeh Koroma of his assorted-color backpack (popo bag) containing two assorted-color men’s suits, one black-colored Itel mobile phone, one old black Nokia phone, a national identity card, and other items, amounting to a total of two thousand one hundred and five Leones (2,105), property of Sunny Pujeh Koroma.
Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led Prosecution Witness Number Two. Sunny Pujeh Koroma, a mason, stated that he knew the complainant in this matter as his wife and he recognized the accused person. He recalled that on January 20th, 2024, while he went to work, his wife was at home. After a few minutes, his wife informed him that someone had stolen things inside the house. He asked his wife if she could identify the person, and she confirmed she could. Upon this information, he went straight home. He found that his tool bag containing 6 plane tools, 2 tape measures, a puff safe, and his travel bag containing his documents and two suits were taken, amounting to a total of two thousand one hundred and five Leones.
He reported the incident at Hill Station police post where some of the stolen items were recovered from the accused person. The accused was arrested with the clothes of his wife and a black plastic bag at Old School. He was then taken to the said police station where a statement was obtained from him.
The witness was cross-examined by the accused person. Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to February 16th, 2024, for further hearing.
