The Sierra Leone Police continues to capacitate its personnel at various management levels; as upscaling their knowledge is one of the main focus of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu.
Against this backdrop, on Wednesday 29th March 2023, at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA), the Director of Training, AIG Sylvester Koroma, on behalf of the IGP, declared a three-day training session opened for Local Unit Commanders (LUCs), Support and Operations Officers on ELECTIONS SECURITY MANAGEMENT COMMANDERS WORKSHOP. Mr. Koroma in his key note address, urged the participants to treat the training with the utmost importance it deserves. He furthered that training of this nature helps to capacitate personnel with the expectation that they will replicate the knowledge gained to those not opportune to attend.
AIG Silvester Koroma acknowledged the training assistance offered to the SLP, through the Strategic Capacity Group, with funds provided by the American Embassy in Sierra Leone.
He however expressed apologies for the unavoidable absence of the IGP and delivered that the IGP frowns at absenteeism to the training.
Other speakers included:
the Senior Police Advisor for the Strategic Capacity Group – Jean Marc, who gave an overview of the training, whilst the Project Co-ordinator Amadu Berthe, briefed participants on the training activities conducted so far.
Earlier, the Commandant of SILEA Campus, Hastings, ACP Allieu Jalloh welcomed all and sundry to the Campus, whilst ACP Esther Kaintor- Dukuray moderated the opening ceremony.
The course is expected to end on 31st March, 2023.
