Luawa FC, in the bid to expand, has on the 9th July 2021, signed a takeover bid with the owner of Malcolm FC to merge the two clubs into Luawa FC.
The two clubs agreed to form a single identity with all players of Malcolm FC automatically become Luawa FC players. However, the owner of Malcom FC will have a return of 20% in each existing player in all future transfers.
Luawa FC, with a well-structured management, is in the bid for massive expansion and this deal today is the second takeover of grassroots teams by Luawa FC after the merged of City Star at Approved School, Eastern part of Freetown with the owner and head coach now coaching Luawa FC.
Speaking at the ceremony, Luawa FC owner Lawyer Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai said “the dream of providing football education and opportunity for young people is falling into place.”
The renowned Lawyer, human rights activists and professor continued that “football helps provide hope for the future of youth who would otherwise be on the street. It is our hope of tapping every young person, irrespective of tribe or region of origin, and turns them into responsible citizens.”
Ismael Mammie (Alias Coach Figo), owner of Malcom FC, said he is pleased with the prospect of working with a well-structured outfit like Luawa FC.
Luawa FC is now made up of Division 1 and 2 in the Western Area Football leagues and has Under 10, 12, 15, 18 and a female team across Freetown.
