Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG), a leading mining company in Sierra Leone, on the 12th May 2023 donated building materials to the 5 Infantry Battalion Headquarters, Wilberforce Barracks in an effort to support the rebuilding of the community after a devastating fire. The donation includes a range of construction materials such as cement, paints, and tiles.
The Wilberforce Barracks, located in the heart of the community, provides a vital service to local residents by responding to emergencies and providing peace and stability during times of crisis. However, the barracks were severely damaged in a fire that broke out leaving the community without a central hub for emergency services.
The donation from LRMG will help to rebuild the barracks and ensure that the community has access to the emergency services they need. The materials will be used to rebuild the building structure and ensure that it is safe and secure for the soldiers and their families who reside there.
LRMG has a long history of supporting local communities through charitable donations. The company is committed to giving back to the communities in which it operates and beyond. LRMG believes that corporate social responsibility is an essential part of its operations.
Speaking about the donation, the CTO – LRMG, Mr Salim Sillah said, “We are proud to support the Wilberforce Fire victims and the important work they do for the local community and Sierra Leone. We hope that our donation will help to rebuild this vital service, and we look forward to seeing the Wilberforce barracks back up and running as soon as possible.”
The Wilberforce Fire victim donation is just one example of the many community organizations that LRMG supports through its charitable giving and CSR projects. The company believes that by working together, we can make a positive impact in the world and help to build stronger, more resilient communities.
In conclusion, LRMG’s donation of building materials to the Wilberforce barracks is a testament to the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its dedication to supporting local communities. “We thank and commend LRMG for their generosity and hope that other companies will follow their lead in supporting their local communities. The company has always been supportive in responding to our concerns and that has helped us improve our services” praised Colonel Karifa Kamara, Chief of Staff, 3 Infantry Brigade, Murray Town Barracks.
