The Human Resource Director of Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG), Mr. Mohamed Daffe, unequivocally dismissed allegations of immigration fraud and worker discrimination at an emergency news briefing held at the company’s head office in Freetown. This statement follows accusations from three local tabloids.

Addressing a gathering of journalists and top-management officials, Mr. Daffe emphasized the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity. He noted that approximately 90% of LRMG’s employees are Sierra Leoneans, complemented by a workforce that includes Chinese, Ghanaians, Rwandese, South Africans, Europeans, and others. “You tend to ask yourself how inclusive a workforce can be than what we have,” he remarked, underlining the company’s respect-driven corporate culture.

Mr. Daffe elaborated on LRMG’s emphasis on respect and collaboration, both internally and with the surrounding communities. “You cannot have all those types of workforces together if you don’t pride yourself on respect, and that is why we keep going; that is why we keep certain standards,” he asserted.

Responding to claims that LRMG employees are prohibited from joining trade unions, Mr. Daffe clarified that workers are free to join the United Mines Workers Union, affirming their rights to unionize.

Addressing the allegations of immigration fraud, Mr. Daffe stated that LRMG strictly adheres to all immigration laws and regulations in Sierra Leone. He described the accusations as “inaccurate and misleading” and urged the media to verify their information before publication.

Supporting Mr. Daffe’s statements, Director of Community Affairs Ansu Bapoto Momoh highlighted LRMG’s compliance with laws and its proactive engagement with community members and government officials. He pointed to significant community development contributions, including donations of Le53 billion this year and Le20 billion last year as surface rent and part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Ing. Samuel J. Kamara, Head of Administration, reinforced LRMG’s adherence to tax and licensing obligations. He refuted claims of non-compliance, emphasizing the company’s ongoing collaboration with relevant agencies.

Legal Director Svetlana Gaujon issued a stern warning to the media outlets that published the allegations, demanding immediate retractions. Failure to comply, she warned, would result in severe legal actions.

Media Directors David V. and Dauda Sillah echoed similar sentiments, stressing the company’s commitment to transparency and legal compliance.

LRMG’s leadership collectively affirmed their dedication to lawful operations, respect for workers’ rights, and robust community relations, countering the recent media allegations with a call for accurate and responsible journalism.
