In a bold effort to enhance police-community relations and strengthen grassroots policing, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Bo West Division, Chief Superintendent of Police Joseph Honor Kamara, held his first rotational commanders’ meeting in Tikonko Town, Tikonko Chiefdom, on Friday, 27 June 2025.

This initiative, part of a broader decentralization strategy championed by LUC Kamara, aims to bring senior police leadership directly into communities across the division. The meetings are held monthly at different locations and serve as platforms for operational review, collaboration, and community engagement.

This month’s meeting saw an impressive turnout of security personnel and key community leaders, including the Paramount Chief of Tikonko Chiefdom, PC Maccavory, who welcomed the initiative. He praised the leadership of LUC Kamara and reaffirmed the chiefdom’s full support for the Bo West Division’s community-oriented policing efforts.

Attendees also included Assistant Superintendent of Police Jacob Ganda, Operations Officer, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Almamy Libo Bangura, Support Officer. Both actively contributed to discussions focused on improving response times, operational efficiency, and strengthening partnerships with the community.

Sub-Inspector Daniel Marrah, the Division’s Chief Clerk, played a crucial role in organizing the meeting. Known for his administrative excellence, Marrah remains a vital support pillar in ensuring the smooth execution of internal engagements and divisional operations.

In his remarks, LUC Kamara commended the community for their strong turnout and support, describing it as a reflection of growing trust in the police.

“Leadership should be inclusive, people-centered, and dynamic. This rotational meeting is not just about police officers it’s about fostering unity, trust, and collective responsibility,” he stated.

The rotational commanders’ meetings have already received praise within and outside the division, with many viewing them as a symbol of progressive leadership that values transparency, accountability, and community ownership.

As the Bo West Division continues under the steady leadership of Chief Superintendent Kamara, the commitment to grassroots engagement and internal cohesion is already yielding positive results for both the police force and the community it serves.
