In a vibrant celebration of faith and cultural identity, the Limba Tribe for Stand on Sunday, 27th July 2025, successfully hosted an Inter-Pentecostal Church Competition in Bo. The event aimed to foster unity among Limba Christians and revive traditional Limba heritage, especially among the younger generation.
Speaking at the event, Founder of Limba Tribe for Stand, Fatmata Grace Okekearu (née Bangura), explained that the competition was part of a broader initiative to reconnect Limba descendants with their cultural roots.
“Many of our children were not fortunate to grow up learning our traditions and values,” she noted. “This competition is part of our ongoing effort to preserve and pass on the richness of Limba culture.”
The event featured several engaging segments, including Limba Gospel Ministration, a Traditional Dress Parade, and a Limba Language Speech Presentation each celebrating the tribe’s unique identity and ancestral legacy.
Five Pentecostal churches from Bo participated in the competition. The final results were as follows new London Church-1st Place (Overall Winner), Reservation Branch – 2nd Place, Nduvobu Branch – 3rd Place, Alien Street Church – 4th Place and Lawabu Branch – 5th Place
Chief Superintendent of Police Joseph Honor Kamara, Local Unit Commander of Bo West Division, commended the organizers and participants, describing the competition as more than just a contest it was a “family celebration”.
“This is not just a competition; it’s a unifying moment for the Limba community,” LUC Kamara said. “In truth, we are all winners today.”
The Inter-Pentecostal Church Competition stands as a milestone in promoting unity among Limba Christians while reinforcing the community’s cultural heritage through faith-based expressions. Organizers hope to make it an annual event to continue nurturing cultural pride and cohesion across generations.
