Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, on Tuesday, 18th November 2025, warmly received Liberia’s Inspector General of Police, Hon. Gregory O. W. Coleman, at his office in Freetown. The meeting underscored the deep human ties and long-standing friendship between the two neighbouring nations.
Hon. Coleman’s visit was part of a four-day working mission to Sierra Leone aimed at strengthening cooperation and enhancing security coordination between the police institutions of both countries.
In welcoming the delegation, the Vice President who also serves as Chairman of the Police Council expressed genuine delight at hosting them. He emphasized that Sierra Leone and Liberia share more than borders; they share people, history, and bonds nurtured over generations.
“Welcome, welcome to all of you, to Sierra Leone,” he said.
Reflecting on the historical relationship between the two nations, VP Jalloh recalled shared experiences in both Monrovia and Freetown. He noted that the warmth and familiarity between Sierra Leoneans and Liberians form the foundation of a resilient partnership that continues to inspire cooperation across various sectors, particularly in security.
He stressed that the ties between countries are not only formal but deeply human, shaped by shared struggles and collective progress. The Vice President added that working together as “two sister countries” presents significant opportunities for strengthening cross-border crime prevention, improving policing standards, and ensuring safety for citizens on both sides of the Mano River.
“We value this relationship, and we believe we have a lot in common. If we work together, we can achieve a lot for our people,” he said.
In response, the Liberian Inspector General expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Sierra Leone.
The meeting concluded on a positive and cordial note, with Vice President Jalloh extending fraternal greetings from His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to the President of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai. He called for continued unity, trust, and shared purpose between the two countries.
