His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio extended a warm welcome and strengthened bilateral ties with Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. on key areas, including trade, security, and cultural exchange, during his inaugural visit to Sierra Leone on November 19, 2024.
This significant meeting at the State House highlighted the longstanding and deep-rooted ties between the two West African nations.
Prior to the gathering, President Bio emphasised the importance of the relationship between Sierra Leone and Liberia, describing them as “sister countries” with intertwined histories and mutual interests. He stated, “We will continue to work closely on various fronts to advance the mutual interests of both nations,” signing a commitment to collaboration in areas such as trade, security, and cultural exchange.
President Boakai’s visit comes shortly after his election as Liberia’s leader, marking a pivotal moment for both countries. The discussions are expected to pave the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation and joint initiatives aimed at addressing common challenges.
