Sierra Leone national team Leone Stars has on 29th March 2022 defeated Congo Brazzaville by two goals to one to wrap the International friendly in good footing at the Mardan Sports Multi-Purpose Stadium in Antalya in Turkey.
Two goals from debutant Kallum Cesay were enough to help the John Keister boys wrap up the international outing in a fantastic fashion, both of the goals came in the second half as the first goal was from a Penalty spot while the second came from a beautiful play in the (18) yard box as the debutant Kallum Essay converted it at the back of the net to seal Leone Stars second win after they won against the Lone Stars of Liberia on Sunday.
Sierra Leone national team continued with their winning run to two matches, after their nations Cup campaign in Cameroon in January 2022. John Keister makes eight changes from the win against Liberia as the team continues the transition period going to the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that are set to kick start in June.
Sierra Leone National team will know their opponents in the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after the Gambia play their last returned leg in the Preliminary of the qualifiers and the three friendlies is a big boost to the technical side to brace up their preparations going into the AFCON qualifiers in June.
According to John Keister, the head coach of the national team said the three friendly matches is a test for players going to the group stages qualifiers, even though the friendlies are not about results but to see how the technical team can look at the players know their strength, maturity, and professionalism in terms of approach and to work on their weaknesses.
Sierra Leone and Congo Brazzaville have met five times and Leone Stars have won three times lost one and drew one in all competitions.
