Sierra Leone Senior National Home base team on 20th July 2022 safely touched down in Morocco ahead of their CHAN Qualifiers against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.
The team is made up of 23 players and Officials who departed the shores of the Freetown International Airport Lungi for direct flights to Morocco, the National home base side has been in intensive training for the past two months in both Freetown and Kenema the Eastern Province of the Country and in the process, they played (11) Friendlies matches winning (10) and drew (1) scored a lot of goals in the process of Preparations for their crunch tie.
The team will face their counterparts the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on the 24th of July 2022 at the Marrakech Stadium in the first leg of the CHAN Qualifiers and they will play the returned leg match on the 27th of July 2022 and the winner of the two legs will face Mail for a final stage of the group stages and the tournament is set to take place in Algeria.
Francis Zappa Koroma the head coach of the National home base side said the team is highly prepared for the task ahead, they have been in training for the past two months trying to implement, conditioning, fitness, tactics, and systems together. He noted that now we have prepared the team to represent Sierra Leone and optimist that we are going out there with one mind and that is to eliminate the blue Sharks of Cape Verde.
He affirmed that they have put up the best team and tried hard to make an unselfish selection because we are doing it for Sierra Leone and we want to qualify the nation for the CHAN tournament.
“We are aware of the record which is we have never crossed to the next stage, the boys have prepared mentally and physically to go and represent the nation.” I have respect for my opponents I have watched them in the Africa Cup of Nations we know they are a strong side, but we are going there to get our systems to face Cape Verde,” he noted.
