Leone Stars Home-Based National side has on 12th August 2022 departed to Kenema Eastern Province of Sierra Leone ahead of the crunch tie against the Eagles of Mali in the CHAN qualifiers.
The team is expected to play a series of Friendlies matches before their departure to Liberia where they will host the Eagles in the last phase of the CHAN Qualifiers, on their arrival in Liberia they are expected to play against two friendlies matches before the brace-up the first leg against Mali on the 27th August 2022 and the returned is expected to play on either on 3rd, 4th, or the 5th September 2022.
Ibrahim Kanu the Media Officer attached to the National Home-Based side of the Technical team of the national Home-Based side has brought in seven (7) additional players to boost up the squad key among the player is the informed striker Musa Noah, Kamara who missed out the first matches against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in both matches, but he has been giving the chance again to be part of the squad for the clash against the Eagles of Mail.
He further that as part of the way of Motivating the squad the Vice Chairman of East End Lions Football Club Mohamed Gento Kamara has boosted the squad with ($10,000) dollars to get the team more prepared to face Mali and to also put their minds focus ahead of the task at hand.
Mohamed Gento Kamara said money given to the home-Based side is to boost the players and is part of the cooperative Social Responsibility of Gento group of companies to support football in the Country and such will continue in subsequent times ahead.
Mohamed Benson Bawoh the Deputy Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association said as a Federation they were pleased to receive a such donation to the national home-based side and the money will be used for the intended purpose, noting that because Sierra Leone knock out the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde the ranking of the National team has boosted greatly and there has been more improvement in the national team.
Ibrahim Kanu confirmed that if the team wins against Mali with the highest margin they will qualify for the tournament in Algeria for the first in the Country’s football history, the Malians were the runners in the last edition hosted in Cameroon and have a good record in this competition and the National home-based have turf task against Mali.
Sierra Leone’s home-based side is the first time they have made it to the stage of the final phase, with the current squad their huge hope of then facing Malians in the daunting task in the CHAN Qualifiers.
