Leone’s Home-based side has on the 22nd of June 2022 trashed Luawa Football Club (5-2) in a friendly encounter as the team prepared ahead of the CHAN qualifiers in July this year.
The Friendly encounter is part of the team preparations ahead of qualifiers, Leone Stars’ home-based side will play against Cape Verde Island in the preliminary qualifiers and it going to be home and away basis.
Francis Zappa Koroma the head coach of the home-based side said that the team has to be engaging in playing friendly matches so that the boys can be fit ahead of their crunch tie against the Cape Verde Island in the qualifiers. The technical team invited 50 home base players from across the 18 Premier League clubs in the Country.
Ibrahim Kanu the Media Officer attached to the home-based side the friendly against Laura Football club is their second friendly match, the first one was against Tornado Football club as they defeated them by (9-0) and in that match a lots of players were given chance by the technical team.
He affirmed that there are three more friendly matches for the team before they depart to Kenema where they will be camp before they depart for Morocco to play against Cape Verde Island in their first leg and will have to host them there again in Morocco because both nations have their Stadium band from CAF for hosting matches in the Country.
Musa Noah Kamara opened the goal scoring in the first half as he scored two goals in the first half, and in the second half Luawa Football club bounce back and two goals to level terms in the 55th minute of play, but Donald Wellington scores a brace while Saidu Bah gets the last goal for the National Home-based as they wrap up the match with (5-2) in the full time played.
Thomas Daddy Brima the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association said he wants more friendly matches for the team before they depart for the match against Cape Verde Island in the CHAN Qualifiers.
Today the National home-based side will face the Western Area combined at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy pitch and on Saturday they will host Kaffblum Combined after that, they head to Camp in Kenema.
