In a remarkable display of philanthropy and community development, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) unveiled the newly constructed Little Scarcies Junior Secondary School in Kathonga, Port Loko District, Sierra Leone, on June 11, 2024. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Juldeh Jalloh, signifies a pivotal moment in the educational landscape of the region, addressing the critical need for modern infrastructure in remote areas.

The inauguration ceremony, attended by key dignitaries including Port Loko City Mayor Alie Badara Tarawalli, showcased the tangible outcomes of LRMG’s commitment to societal betterment. The school infrastructure, comprising three classrooms, a store, an office space, and three spacious latrines, along with over 500 chairs and desks, stands as a testament to LRMG’s dedication to enhancing learning environments in marginalized communities.

Alhajie Mohamed Turay, the Community Manager of LRMG, emphasized the project’s alignment with the educational priorities of President HE Bio, highlighting the company’s substantial investment of over Nle 600,000. Turay further underscored the multifaceted impact of LRMG’s initiatives, which extended beyond infrastructure to include the awarding of scholarships to deserving pupils and the donation of a brass band to the Pepel Community School, enriching the educational experience for students across the district.

Expressions of gratitude poured in from various quarters, with testimonies from notable figures such as Chernor Alie Bangura, Principal of Little Scarcies Junior Secondary School, and Paul B. Mansaray from the Ministry of Basic Education, echoing a resounding appreciation for LRMG’s timely intervention. Their heartfelt acknowledgments underscored the transformative effect of LRMG’s benevolence, which has alleviated longstanding challenges faced by the school and its surrounding communities.

LRMG’s General Manager, Charlie Cheng, reaffirmed the company’s steadfast commitment to uplifting Sierra Leone across various sectors. Cheng pledged continued support for the betterment of society, emphasizing the importance of collaborative endeavors between the private sector, government officials, and local communities in prioritizing education as a cornerstone of national development.
