The Leone Rock Metal Group has on 28th January 2023 kicked- Off their 175 million Leones One Nation Football Tournament in Makeni the North East of Sierra Leone.
The Leone Rock Metal Group has put some of Le N 175,000 as Price money for the tournament that will play in six (6) regions across the Country, the company is responsible to give out all logistical support to all participating regions. The Tournament is a Regional tournament organized by the Leone Rock Metal group to foster peace among the regions in the country, and according to the formats of the competition it will be playing three groups of two teams each and they will be going with the standard regulations of Football.
Speaking on behalf of the General Manager of Leone Metal Group Company, Mr. Gou said this is very time in Sierra Leone for three Government agencies to come together to organize a Football tournament, noting that as a company “We love Football and all other Sports, we normally Practice it for many reasons because we all benefit from it by playing it for pleasure or competition wise.”
He affirmed that Leone Rock Metal Group is a company that gives back to the people of Sierra Leone in many forms, key among is promoting Development activities and fostering peace with the laws that govern the Country.
According to the Manager, Football has an impact on building national cohesion and peace in any Country.
He furthered that the Leone Rock Metal group started operations in the Country in 2010 under the name Kingho Mining Company, but now the name has been replaced by Leone Rock Metal Group, whiles revealing that they have six years of production right of the 192 KM Railway of the Pepel port that is joined with the Tonkolili District.
He said the total investment of the Leone Rock Metal company in Sierra Leone is (596) thousand dollars and their current activities in the country include Mining processing and exporting Iron Ore in the Country.
Whiles making his statement Ibrahim Nyelenkeh the Minister of Sports started by telling thanks to the Management of Leone Rock for such a huge project in the Country.
He noted that Leone Rock has added more to development in terms of Progress, peace, and stating further that what the Company has now embarked on is cool down of the tension with the six regions as the country is approaching the general elections on June 24th, 2023.
He further called on all participating regions’ Football Fans to maintain peace whenever they go out to watch when their regions play in the tournament.
The Minister revealed that since his time around Football this is the first time of seeing a company put up such a huge amount in a football tournament and called on other companies to come on board and developed Sports in the Country.
“What you have started will be a milestone in this country and in the history of Football and we will never forget as government”, the Minister of Sports said.
Below is a list of the regions that are taking part in the Competition
- North East Region 2. North-West Region 3. South- Region 4 East Region 5. Western Area Rural 6. Western Area Urban.
The Official Opening of the One Nation Tournament attracts many fans in the North-East Region of the Country.
The two regions that opened the tournament were North- East Region and the Western Area Rural and it was a clash of the titans as both regions are looking to get it.
Leone Rock Metal group as of now is one of the largest resources investment companies in West Africa, and is now remains the parent company of Kingho Mining Company and Kingho Railway and Port Company.
