Le 700m Theft at Grand Cassino: Witness Concludes Testimony

42yrs old  Hassan Kanu, 42yrs old Abu Bakarr Samura, 24yrs old Abdul Karim Sesay 25yrs old Foray Koroma, 30yrs old Malcom Kamara and 25yrs old Yaraba Mansaray made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on three court charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law, Office breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Larceny by Servant contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of on Friday 12th November 2021 at No.72 Cape Road Aberdeen the western area in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Office breaking and larceny on count two at the same place and date the accused person with intent to steal, broke and entered into the office of the cashier and stole therein seven hundred million Leones(700,000,000) property of Grand Leone Cassino and on count three at the same place and date being a servant by the said company stole the said amount.

Prosecution witness number one Liwei while concluding his testimony said he recalled when he was testifying in the court he took the CCTV footage recording to the police station and he will be in position to identify the footage recording. The witness said he didn’t see his money and the accused persons did refund it.

Cross examination by defense counsel M.M Tejan on behalf of the first accused person.

 In posing his questions to the witness said the witness will agree with him that he was not present at the time of the alleged incident the witness said yes, when you went to the scene all you did was to watch the CCTV footage Camera the witness said yes, what was the date on the CCTV Camera the witness said the 12th November 2021, did you know the first accused person the witness said yes I know him, did the footages of the CCTV Camera capture the first accused person the witness said no.

Cross examination by defense counsel J .M Jengo on behalf of the 2nd 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th accused persons, you made a report on an incident to the police station for which you have no first-hand information the witness said yes, the information with regards the alleged incident were explained to you when you returned from No.2 River the witness said yes, Do you want the court to rely on your statement the witness said not old his statement in court but his statement at the CID headquarters he concluded

However Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 22nd February 2022 for further hearing Detective Superintendent of police Isatu Gbassy Fofanah prosecuting the Matter
