Ibrahim Kamara has made several appearances before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Pademba road court in Freetown on one count charge to wit Destroying Growing plant contrary to section 23 of malicious Damage Act 1861.
According to the charge sheet it was alleged that on the 6th February 2021 at 26 Issa drive Godrich in Freetown did destroy uncountable banana trees property of the complainant, Frank Borbor Massaquoi.
The Complainant, Frank Borbor Massaquoi while testifying in court said he knew the accused person as his neighbor and also recalled the 6th March 2021.
On that fateful day while at work between 5pm to 6pm he received a call from his wife who informed him that the accused person has cut down all his banana plantation. Immediately he said he went straight to the scene and saw that the bananas trees has been destroyed laying on the ground. Taken together the trees were valued about fifty million Leones.
The complainant said he went to Adonkia Police Station, and later together with one Police officer visited the crime scene and the police took snap shots of the damaged bananas and later made statement to the police.
Second Police Witness, Samai Lahai attached to the investigation department Adonkia Police Station in Freetown, said he recognized the accused person and recalled the 8th February 2021 when he was on duty at investigation department, Adonkia police station the complainant made a report against the accused person and the matter was assigned to him for investigation.
The witness said together with another Police Officer, visited the scene of crime and observed that the banana trees were cut down. Snap shots were taken and also obtained statement from the complainant and his witnesses. Invitation was sent to the accused person and he came to the station on a later date.
A.S.P Aminata Daboh prosecuting and the matter has been adjourned to the 6th April 2021.
