Lawyer Mohamed Pa Momoh Fofanah, representing both the Sierra Leone
Agricultural Equipment and Guoji Investment Company at Cline town in Freetown,
has on Tuesday 19th January 2021 written a strongly worded
letter to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, challenging the
forceful eviction of his clients at their lease acquired business estate.

Armed Police are said to have affected the eviction order on 31st
January this year, terminating a fifty years lease agreement that was signed
during the tenure of Dr. Kadie Sesay as Trade and Industry Minister under the
administration of Dr. Alhaji Ahmed Tejan Kabbah. It is unclear who must have
ordered the eviction that the armed Police executed.

The lawyer’s letter is calling on the learned Attorney General and Minister
of Justice to reconsider the issue by intervening to establish the legality or
otherwise of the eviction to avoid a litigation against the government.

Even a Civil Society Organization advocating  social and ecnomic
issues, had in a press statement dated  20th January 2021
signed by the Chairman Mohamed Kamara, condemned the act of forceful
termination of the agreement and illegal occupation by armed personal of what
used to be a thriving commercial center.

Observers say this situation has the potential of straining the
bilateral l relation between Sierra Leone and China if not handled with tact.
