Ibrahim Turay, a 30-year-old labourer, has been cautioned and discharged by Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of the Pademba Road Court No. 8 after pleading guilty to one count of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, between the 1st and 30th of June 2025, at Addidas Drive, Hill Station, in the Mountain Rural District, Western Area of Freetown, Turay obtained the sum of Le400 from Hawa Keran by falsely pretending that he would supply granite stones to her, knowing this to be untrue.
Upon reading and explaining the charge, Turay pleaded guilty. His legal counsel, Ibrahim Turay Esq., offered to repay the Le400 on his behalf.
Following this, Magistrate Samura issued a caution and discharged the accused.
Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph Lamin Dumbuya prosecuted the matter.
