LATE PAYMENTS OF DEVOLVED FUNDS IS UNDERMINING WORK OF MDA’s -Deputy Director of MOAF

The Deputy Director of the Ministry of Agriculture Kono District,  Brima Samuel Bangura has said that the late payment of devolved funds through the District Council is seriously affecting the activities of the Ministry in the District.

He made this disclosure when providing updates on the success and challenges about his ministry for the period 2021/2022.

According to him the agricultural activities is time bound especially in the rainy season which is the appropriate time for agricultural activities in the District and the country by extension. Mr. Bangura furthered that, the Ministry is faced with a lot of challenges which include mobility, limited staffing, and bad road network to access the far to reach areas in the district among other things.

On successes, he said a lot has been done to promote agriculture as he put it “the Ministry has donated cassava grater machines to the youth groups in Tankoro Chiefdom in boosting their effort in farming activities”.

Mr Bangura pointed out that, the Ministry succeeded to establish fish ponds, poultry for partners in the District, among other things.

He promised to do more in the not too distant future and called on the central government to be doing prompt disbursement of the devolved funds to enable them to be effective in their jobs.
