It is the last campaign in the Western Urban for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) yesterday Tuesday 20th June 2023. Such gatherings have captured and mesmerized the attention of thousands of ‘Freetonians’ to vote overwhelmingly for the incumbent President (Dr Julius Maada Bio) come Saturday, June 24th.

This medium sounded the views of some supporters during the rally procession yesterday.

The Regional Organizing Secretary for Western Region SLPP, Amadu Sandi expressed that they are ready to continue with the governance trajectory of President Bio. Sandi described the forthcoming election as an election for development.

“The Free Quality Education should continue; the 60 per cent Mortality rate should continue; the radical inclusion and girl child education should continue; the free sanitary pads distribution should continue”, Amadu Sandi stressed.

While the National Young Generation Secretary of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Z.K. Sheriff affirmed that it was their last campaign in the Western Urban and expressed that the crowded population at the event was to send a strong signal to their supporters that the party is fully ready to cast their votes come Saturday, June 24 for President Julius Maada Bio.

“The election will go on as planned, and no individual or group can tamper with the date and I advise everybody to take his or her Voter I’D Card to vote in their respective centres. Anybody trying to disturb the electioneering exercise would meet strong resistance from the people of this country and if possible, by the government,” Z.K Sheriff asserted.

Haja Binta Fatmata Jalloh aka Zonal YG excitedly expressed how happy she would be upon hearing that President Bio had been reelected after the June 24 election. Madam Jalloh further expressed that the event was just to create a momentous merriment and to talk to the people to go and vote and safely return to their houses after voting. She explained that she had advised her colleagues not to argue with anyone but to embrace everyone as they would be one family after the election.

Abibatu Barrie aka Mama Sharp, expressed how President Bio, Mohamed Gento and Fatima Bio had helped to remove them off the street. She said they had created facilities for them to learn jobs that had been sustaining their livelihoods. As a single parent, she explained how the Free Quality Education had relieved the burden of paying school fees for her children. She expressed that those were some of the things that motivated her to throw more support for the SLPP party.

Ibrahim Adam Jorothon, an SLPP Youth Supporter mentioned education, human capital development and agriculture as part of the things that motivated him to throw his support for President Bio’s re-election. He advised the SLPP supporters to keep the peace, to be law-abiding and to safely return to their respective houses after voting.
