Labourer Manhandles Police Recruit

Abu Kargbo Police Labourer attached at Police Training School Hastings on Tuesday February 21 2023, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No 1 on Pademba Road, Freetown, for wounding, theft and assaulting Police Recruit Ansumana Samuka with number 21362.

The accused Abu Kargbo is charged on 5 counts ranging from wounding with intent contrary to Section 18 of the offence against the Person Act 1861, wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offences against the Person Act 1861, larceny contrary to 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 47 of the offences against the Person Act 1861 and carrying offensive weapon without lawful authority or reasonable excuse contrary to Section 16 (1) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.

According to the statement of offence on count 1, the accused Abu Kargbo on Sunday 12th February 2023, at Police Training School Hastings Freetown, wounded Ansumana Samuka with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Count 2 states that the accused on the same date and place maliciously wounded Ansumana Samuka.

Count 3 states that the accused on the same date and place did steal one head banana valued one hundred and fifty Leones, property of the Sierra Leone Police.

Count 4 states that the accused on the same date and place assaulted Ansumana Samuka in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

Count 5 states that the accused on the same date and place was found carrying offensive weapons in a public place to wit cutlass and two sliver forceps without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.

No bail was granted to the accused.

He was remanded in custody until the 24th February 2023.
