His Excellency the President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has told the people of Kono District that their well-being and livelihoods matter very much to him and that he will do all he can to redeem them from the 11 years’ social injustice they went through during the reign of the APC.
He made this revelation during his Thank You Tour in Baiama Town and Gardorhun Town in Tankoro and Gbane chiefdoms in Kono District respectively. He made this disclosure on Sunday 19th March 2023.
The President noted that the development activities that are ongoing in the district are not being done out of sentiment but are being done in order to redeem Kono District from the backward state it has been for decades and match it up with other districts in terms of modern development.
“I have visited Kono District more than any other district, because I want to know their problems and fix them as you deserve more under my leadership,” he said. He added that the construction of the Kono University of Science and Technology, roads, bridges, installation of 24 hours electricity, school feeding program, Free Quality Education among others in the district is to demonstrate how serious his government is to give life to the people of Kono.
He assured the people of the respective chiefdoms of more development opportunities, and urged them to focus on the things that will unite them as a district more than on those things that divides them.
The President admonished the people of Kono to vote for the SLPP in the upcoming June elections, as by doing so, they are voting for their future and the future of their children.
He emphasized that, he is going to stand with the people of Kono at all times, as Kono matters to him and that he will be grateful to make Kono the bread basket of the country once again.
The President used the forum as an opportunity to explain in details his plans and aspirations for the people of Kono and assured them of more development before and after the general elections in June this year.
The First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Paramount Chief and other stakeholders in the respective districts for the confidence they have reposed in her husband over the years and for pledging their support to President Bio and the SLPP Government.
She noted that the people of Kono have regained their consciousness after what the APC government and party did to them during their reign in power and during their recently- concluded Delegates’ Conference.
“APC have asked the people of Kono a big question and we must answer that question in June 2023, by voting overwhelmingly for President Julius Maada Bio and the SLPP to demonstrate to them that Kono matters to each and every Sierra Leonean,” she said amidst thunderous applause.
Dr. Fatima Bio further assured the people of Tankoro and Gardorhun chiefdoms of additional development drives as they approach the general elections. “When my husband says something, he always delivers and that is why he is a man of few words. My husband doesn’t make fake promises and that’s why he is called the ‘Talk N Do President Sierra Leone has ever got,” she added.
The First Family and delegation continued their Thank You Tour to Bandajuma Town, Yawei Chiefdom in the Kailahun District where they will hold similar meeting on Monday 20th March 2023 in Bunundu Town, Pejewest Chiefdom Kailahun District.
