Saidu Momoh Conteh a Prison Officer attached at the Male Correctional Centre Freetown has pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marke Ngegba in Freetown on the 1st March, 2021. The accused testified before the Magistrate Court that he is guilty of unlawful possession of substance contrary to Law.
According to the case file, the accused on 30th January, 2021 at the Male Correctional Centre Pademba Road in Freetown he was found with narcotic substance of the street name Kush in his anus.
As per routine duty, everybody that enters the Correctional Centre should be searched before they could get access to the prison yard. During a search warrant he was asked to remove his trousers and pants and in his anus was found with small plastic suspected to be Kush.
It has been revealed that Saidu Momoh Conteh (accused) was about to take up duty at the Male Correctional Centre on the day of the incident.
The accused person Saidu Momoh Conteh was later taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
Criminal Investigation Department obtained statement from two prison officer upon which he has been dismissed from the Sierra Leone Prison Force. The prosecutor of the matter 15132 Turay H. and the lawyer for the accused person were unavoidably absent.
The accused person was sent to remand at the Pademba Road Prison and the matter has been adjourned to 8th March, 2021.
