Members of the Kono Student’s Union (KONSU) have officially launched Koidu City their annual free-of-cost summer School lessons on the theme” Enhancing Effective Learning in Kono District” at a ceremony held at the Koidu Girls Senior Secondary School in Gbense Chiefdom Kono District.
Making a statement at the official launch of this year’s KONSU free-of-cost summer school lessons the national president of Kono Student s Union, Augusta Sheku foremost thanked members of the different media houses in the district for popularizing the concept of the summer school lessons launched.
She maintained that the annual KONSU summer school lessons are a routine activity for members of the Union to pay back to their City and the district as a whole where they were schooled before pursing tertiary education in and out of the district.
Augusta Sheku noted that financing, teaching and learning materials are the challenges they faced in running the said summer school lessons and therefore pleaded with well-meaning citizens to cushion the aforementioned challenges so that this year’s KONSU summer school lessons will be a success.
She admonished beneficiaries of the summer school lessons to treat their academic work seriously as education is the key to sustainable development.
The Mayor of New Sembehun City Council Koidu, Komba Matthew Sam and a member of the elder’s Council Kono Students Union when making a statement, underscored the formation of the Kono Students Union to enhance academia in the district and the Country as a whole. He urged beneficiaries of the summer school lessons to make good use of the respective teachings as quality education is the means of transforming one status.
