As a way of motivating pupils to focus on education in kono District and the country as a whole, the kono students Union (KONSU) has on the 21st October 2023 ended its kono District academic excellence awards on the Theme” Motivation to ensure continuous academic excellence ” held at the union’s secretariat Bona Street in koidu City. The occasion saw the awarding of the best performing pupils at the 2023 National Primary school Examination (NPSE).
When explaining the objective of the academic awards, the vice president of the above named Union Kadiatu Sow Jawara said the awards ceremony was a sign of them ( KONSU) paying back to the community thereby motivating the continuing pupils in the District. She maintained that the Union consists of students from different universities and colleges across the country who out of passion for education contributed little amount of money to embark on such activity, noting the little amount given to the best performing pupils by the Union will serve as motivation for them to do more in their academic work and as well encourage the weak pupils to tighten up their loins in order to perform beyond expectations.
Sahr Jawara Allieu is the national president of the aforementioned Union, whilst making a statement he focused on the essence of the kono academic excellence awards for the pupils that sat to this year’s NPSE, adding that the objective of the Kono academic excellence awards was to encourage the pupils to be more serious with their academic work. He maintained that at least thirty two pupils within the District were meritoriously chosen in this year’s NPSE Examination, stating out of the thirty two pupils five outstanding pupils received one thousand new Leone, learning materials and scholarships for three years with the condition of always being among the first five best performing pupils in their respective classes. In his remarks, the lead sponsor of the ceremony Ahmed komba Nanoh thanked kono students Union for the venture to pay back to the community they hailed from. According to him paying back to one’s community is one of the best things anyone can ever do for his or her people. He encouraged the awardees to maintain the standard they have started so that they could retain the scholarships given to them. Mr Nanoh pleaded with KONSU to keep track record of best performing pupils for future developments.
