Kono Paramount Chiefs Hail  Bio Government

The Paramount chief of Tankoro Chiefdom Kono District P.C. Paul N. Saquee has on behalf of his colleague Paramount Chiefs in Kono District registered their full and unconditional support to the president Bio led government. Paramount Chief Saquee made the pronouncement during the official opening of the Tankoro native Administrative hall in Koidu City by the Minister of Mines and Mineral resources Timothy Kabba on Friday 6th January 2023.

The New Tankoro Native Administrative hall through the aforementioned Chiefdom Administration was constructed with funds provided under the community development agreement with Koidu Limited Mining Company with special reference to its corporate social responsibility scheme. According to Paramount Chief Paul N. Saquee Paramount Chiefs as traditional leaders are always ready to support the government of the day in order to foster sustainable development for their people.

He thanked President Bio for his mature leadership and developmental strides across the country and Kono District in particularly and implored him to do more. He further thanked the management of Koidu Limited mining company for fulfilling it’s corporate social responsibility scheme for the construction of the Tankoro Native Administrative hall with funds provided under the community development agreement and urged them not to relent.

 He intimated the audience that owing to the remarkable work of late Hon. Sahr Randolf Fillie Faboe who did not only serve the two major and traditional political parties in the country that is the SLPP and APC  but the country as a whole the New TNA hall was going to be named after the late man.

In his opening remarks earlier the Chairman of the Tankoro Chiefdom Community Development Committee (CDC) with the motto Sustainable Development all the way Dr. Tamba Alpha Kpatewama who also chaired the opening ceremony of the new TNA hall registered his delight for such development noting diamonds which people used to described as blood and conflict natural resources have over the years drastically changed into diamonds for development.

According to him since diamonds were officially discovered in 1930 noting prior to now there was nothing good to write home about it but nowadays it has become the symbol of development.

Dr. Kpetewama intimated the audience that the new mines and mineral bill which is about  to be enacted in to Law  will in no doubt change the present deplorable status of host mining communities and therefore thanked the SLPP led government for a work well done.

 The Chairman of the Tankoro Chiefdom Community Development Committee (CDC) pointed out that Paramount Chief Paul N. Saquee is responsible for the present rapid developments that have been effected in the Chiefdom  and Kono District as a whole.

As the operations  of Koidu Limited does not only benefit its operational Chiefdom.

But Kono District and the Country as a whole.

Making a statement the Chairman council of Paramount chiefs Kono District who is also the Paramount Chief of Soa Chiefdom Kono District P.C. Emmanuel Tamba T. Fayoh maintained that they as Paramount Chiefs were the happiest because the construction and opening of the TNA hall is the brain child of their colleagues Paramount  chief and therefore pledged  their  unflinching support to him and the people of Tankoro Chiefdom Kono District.

Paramount Chiefs as agents of development P.C Fayoh appealed to President Bio to include them in his developmental studies across the country.

He thanked Koidu Limited Mining Company for living up to its corporate social responsibility. Similar statements were also made by the Mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council his worship Komba Mathew Sam, Chairman Kono District Council Solomon Sahr Gbondo and the Honourable member of Parliament representing constituency 029 Hon. Rebecca Yei Sam who in her remarks totally discouraged illicit mining in the district if similar developments are to be replicated in the other parts of Kono District.

She strictly advised all to be law abiding and peaceful as elections are drawing closer in the country.

Meanwhile the newly constructed TNA hall was officially opened by the Minister of Mines and Mineral resources Timothy Kabba.
