Koidu School for the Blind has over the weekend received food and non-food items worth Millions of Leones from Kono Lives matter a community based organization in Kono District.
The donation took place at the aforesaid school compound in Koidu City Kono District. The items donated were bags of milk, sugar, unions, flour, rice, butter, mayonnaise, soap, role of uniform materials, used clothes among others.
According to the founder of the organization, Ibrahim Turay the aims and objectives of forming the organization Kono Lives matter is to stop the physically challenged at the Koidu School for the Blind from street begging.
He further maintained that every able person is a potential candidate for disability.
This support is coming mostly from non-Sierra Leoneans in an out of Kono District adding that citizen’s of Sierra Leone need to consider persons living with disabilities who also have right to live like any other Sierra Leoneans.
He appealed to the school administration to use the items received for their intended purposes.
He assured them of their continued support. On their part, the school management thanked the organization for the giant support while at the same time appealed for the creation of a security fence around the school compound as thieves have being carting away with many of their proprieties.
