The Kono Judicial District resident Magistrate of the Sefadu Magistrate court, Alpha Salieu Dorleh has narrowly survived an attempted attack by unidentified individuals in the municipality of Koidu.
The said incident occurred at his D.O. Barracks residence between the hours of 3 and 4 am on Friday 15th October, 2021.
Although there was no reported harm on him, neither damages on the building and his properties within the compound he stays, magistrate Dorleh has however referred to the apparent attack as an attack on the Judiciary of Sierra Leone the Chief Justice, master and register and the law enforcement agencies in the country.
According to him, he received an alert phone call from an unknown individual from a neighbouring community Gbetema where he believed the criminals came from informing him of them to attack him.
Ascertaining his claim that, the said attackers were from the aforementioned community, Magistrate Alpha Sallieu Dorleh said, few days ago he cautioned and discharged at least six young men in his court, who were arrested and charged by the Sierra Leone Police for gambling within the Gbetema community.
Magistrate Dorleh has therefore called on all and sundry especially authorities in the security sector for their robust interventions towards the maintenance of his security and protection that would enable him to administer his constitutional responsibilities in a safe environment in a bid to make Kono District a decent place.
He however commended the Police at the Motema and Tankoro divisions for their swift interventions upon receiving his distress calls within the cause of the unfortunate incident.
“I am somehow depressed over this uncalled for action, but it would not stop me from discharging my duty as the resident magistrate in the District in fact, I will be presiding over cases today”, he expressed.
Meanwhile the Tankoro Police divisional headquarters local unit commander (LUC) superintendent Frankly Mbawoh has assured the Magistrate of their intensive security supports.
No arrest has being made so far even though an investigation into the reported attempted attack is in progress.
Magistrate Alpha Sallieu Doleh replaced his Predecessor, Magistrate Ibrahim Yilla eight (8) months ago.
