The Kono District Human Rights Committee issues this press release to vehemently condemn the despicable act of violence that resulted in the untimely death of Tamba Theophilous James, a dedicated primary school teacher in Turbo Village, Kangama Gorma Chiefdom, Kono District.

According to reports, Tamba Theophilous James left Turbo Village for his farm on January 27th, 2024, but tragically never returned home. On January 28th, 2024, a search team comprised of concerned villagers discovered his lifeless body along the roadside near Sahr Yarjah’s farm, in close proximity to the village.

The remains of the deceased were found on Sahr Yarjah’s farm, with visible wounds on his body, indicative of a brutal attack. This senseless act of violence has plunged the entire community into mourning and disbelief.

The Kono District Human Rights Committee unequivocally denounces this heinous crime and calls upon law enforcement authorities to launch a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tamba Theophilous James’ death.

“We urge the authorities to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice and to hold the perpetrators of this heinous act accountable for their actions,” emphasized the press release. “Teachers play pivotal roles in shaping the future of our society, and the loss of this dedicated educator is a devastating blow to the Kono people and the nation as a whole.”

In this time of profound grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased. We stand in solidarity with the community of Turbo in Kangama Gorma Chiefdom, including the people of Kono District, as we mourn the loss of one of our own.
