Two construction companies have qualified to take up contracts with the Chiefdom Development Committee (CDC) in Tankoro Chiefdom, Kono District. The companies included Sibano Engineering Company and King Construction Company.
It could be recalled that a couple of weeks ago the aforesaid committee advertised bid opening for interested construction companies to apply for the construction of schools, conference hall, office structure among other projects in Tankoro Chiefdom.
Making his submission, the Chairman of the Chiefdom Development Committee Tankoro Chiefdom Kono District, Professor Alpha Tamba Kpetewama said a committee was constituted in accordance with the procurement law to select the most qualified candidates for the proposed project, noting that the committee was very mindful in selection. The consideration of value for money has been highly factored in the process, A-Z Newspaper has gathered
Professor Kpetewama said they cannot select contractors based on malice or favour but rather quality assurance to benefit posterity.
The construction work will include a three classroom building in Moyima Town, the conversion of the cool storage building into an office structure and a conference hall, the conversion of the Hollywood building into a vocational training centre for women to create more financial support for the chiefdom development committee.
Professor Alpha Tamba Kpetewama maintained that they will not hand over any contract to the two construction companies as at now until after fourteen days, adding that according to section 118 of the Procurement Regulation Act and section 63, contractors who feel dissatisfied with the outcome of the selection, to write a letter of complaint to his office stating reasons for their dissatisfaction.
He noted that he in return will look into such complaints carefully and if there is any valid reason, he will look into it and reverse the entire process within fourteen days.
Chiefdom Development Committee Member Bundu Gbondo has pleaded with the Chairman Professor Kpetewama to ensure that the construction is disabled friendly.
