The Mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council his Worship Ambassador Komba Matthew Sam has officially launched the South- South cooperation in sustainable Waste Management waste wise Koidu Project at a kick-off workshop held at the Fachima complex hall Bona Street, in Koidu City.
Officially launching the said project the Mayor foremost welcomed all present for attending the launch.
He said the coming of the project to Koidu, Kono District is as a result of the visit he made to Nairobi sometimes and saw the beauty of Waste Management and its abounding benefits .
He underscored the coming of several Waste management projects in his City as they will in no doubt give the municipality of Koidu a face lift and friendly for human habitation. His Worship the Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council intimated the audience that the success and sustainability of the project launched needs the attention of all and sundry especially the media in terms of raising awareness on the importance of waste management
“I am very passionate in living in a very clean society which signifies development and moral values the first gentleman of the municipality of Koidu”, she opined.
Mayor Komba Matthew Sam expressed optimism that the project launched will be successful and sustainable because prior to its official launch there has been a waste management steering committee headed by the Chairman of the Council of Paramount Chiefs Kono District P.C. Emmanuel Tamba Torche Foryoh.
He said for the project to be more successful, everyone needs to be a change agent. He conclusively disclosed plans of participating in a zoom meeting for beneficiary waste management City Mayors around the World come December 6th this year.
Making a statement, the Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs Kono District P.C. Emmanuel Tamba T. Foyoh who also doubles as the Chairman waste management steering Committee Koidu City intimated all present that although the official launch of the South-South Cooperation in sustainable waste management, waste wise Koidu project has under gone undue delays but all necessary preparations are in place for its implementation. He thanked the donors and the Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council for actualizing the official launch of the project in Koidu City noting that he wished the project will be a viable one that will add to the beautification of the City of Koidu.
On behalf of the membership of the waste management steering Committee in Koidu city and his colleague Paramount Chiefs P.C. Foyoh pledged his unflinching support for the success of the project launched.
Meanwhile, Ansu Bangura one of the waste management consultants Urban Basic services section Global solutions division UN- habitant catalogued the following as the purpose and objectives of the project launched: Create a shared understanding of the project background, timeline and deliverables, create a mutual understanding of what a successful project looks like and what needs to be done to get there, It brings everyone (Project team, key stakeholders and donors on the same page and set the stage for effective collaborations. Set the tone for clear communications and teamwork throughout the project life. Different group works and presentations by the participants climaxed the official launch of the South- South cooperation in sustainable waste management, waste wise Koidu Project.
