KOIDU LIMITED MINING COMPANY CONSTRUCTS 10 BORDER SECURITY POSTS

 In a bid to support the security sector in Kono District to perform its constitutional responsibilities, the Koidu Limited Mining Company has boosted the security sector with ten border crossing security posts in five chiefdoms in Kono District. These chiefdoms include Toli, Lei, Mafindor, Gbane Kandor, and Soa respectively, the handing over ceremony at the Fachima complex hall in Koidu City.

Talking on behalf of his colleague beneficiaries and paramount chiefs in those chiefdoms where the ten (10) border crossing security posts were constructed, the paramount chiefs of Soa Chiefdom who also doubles as the Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs in Kono District  P.C. Tamba Emmanuel Torche Foryoh encouraged the security personnel deployed at the various border crossing points to make good use of the facility provided by the Koidu Limited Mining Company and to also be professional in performing their responsibilities.

He thanked the Honourable Resident Minister East, Andrew Ansu Fatorma for talking to Koidu Limited Mining Company to construct the ten border crossing security points in the District as the facility will help the security personnel to work effectively in manning the various border crossing points.

In his statement, the Senior District Officer Kono District (SDO) Augustine Forgbeh said that, Kono District is the only District in the country that has constructed structures for security personnel which according to him will add morale to the security personnel at the various border crossing points.

Handing over the structures, Henry Vagg on behalf of Koidu Limited thanked the contractors who had performed very well, noting that although the buildings have been completed and handed over to the beneficiary chiefdoms. He said that the contractors will make repairs on leaking roof, water well and, doors within six months which is why they have held on to ten percent (10%) of the money.

Mustapha Solomon Kambeh is the assistance Inspector General of Police; he stated that a country that does not have control over its borders cannot protect its citizens from external attacks and diseases. He also appeals to Koidu Limited Mining Company to extend such an opportunity to other Districts that are faced with similar challenges.
