The medical superintendent in charge of the Kensay Community Health Centre in Koidu City, Kono District Cecilia Musuabo has said that the aforesaid Community Health Center lacks critical drug supply, staff quarters, pure drinking water facilities and other drugs to treat illnesses that are frequently reported at the center for medication.
She made the statement when responding to concerns from some affected people leaving in the catchment areas who go to the centre for treatment. She said they often refer patients to the Koidu Government Hospital for treatment because they lack medicines at the center.
The medical superintendent In charge of the Kensay Community Health centre maintained that the drugs which they do receive from the Government are not enough for the patients and that presently there are no drugs at the Kensay Community Health Centre.
She further told our reporter that the lack of staff quarters and shortage of drugs at the centre have posed serious challenges which have the potential to undermine the Free Health Care Service provided by the government for the designated people in the district.
She therefore called on the government through the District Health Management Team (DHMT) to assist them with drugs especially for Malaria and for patients suffering from sexually transmitted diseases patients.
Meanwhile, information reaching this medium states that the small Sefadu Peripheral Health Unit (PHU) in Gbense Chiefdom, Kono District is also affected by the same problems
