Councilor Ibrahim Bangura of Kenema District and Bamba Brima Moses made their second appearance on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 5. The two are facing multiple charges, including abusive language and malicious damage.
They are jointly standing trial on six counts, ranging from larceny, threatening to kill, common assault, insulting conduct, malicious damage, and abusive language—all offenses contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the indictment, on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Hamilton Junction in Freetown, the accused allegedly stole the sum of twenty-five thousand new Leones from the complainant, Abdul Koroma.
The charge sheet further states that both accused persons used threatening language against Koroma, allegedly saying, “We go make sure say we kill you people them.”
It is also alleged that they unlawfully assaulted the complainant and engaged in insulting conduct with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace. Additionally, they are accused of maliciously damaging a concrete structure belonging to Koroma, valued at fifteen thousand new Leones, and using abusive language against him.
After the charges were read and explained to the accused, both pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor A.M. Koroma requested an adjournment of the matter. Defense counsel Jesse Jengo applied for bail on behalf of the accused.
Magistrate Gbloh granted each of the accused bail in the sum of fifty thousand new Leones, with one surety each. The sureties must be residents of Freetown and are required to produce valid national identification cards confirming their Freetown address. Bail is subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The case was adjourned to July 7, 2025, for hearing.
