The Kono Active Support Team (KAST), a newly formed auxiliary group within the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), has recently intervened to address prolonged intra-party conflicts involving several executive members at both constituency and district levels in Kono District, Eastern Province.
The initiative widely welcomed by party members has been described as a timely call for unity and collective victory as the APC prepares for the 2028 general elections. The peace and unity dialogue brought together party leaders and members to reaffirm the need for cooperation, coordination, and solidarity within the district. The event was fully financed by KAST through generous contributions from its committed membership.
During the mediation discussions, KAST members agreed on several key actions aimed at strengthening cooperation and deepening engagement across all levels of the party in Kono District.
One major resolution calls for the APC Kono District Chairman to hold regular monthly meetings to ensure executives remain informed, active, and engaged. Constituency leaders were also encouraged to promote full participation of all executives in party activities.
KAST further committed itself to serving as a moral guarantor for lasting peace within the district, enhancing the party’s visibility through a stronger social media presence, and organizing a districtwide constituency tour involving every chairman and chairlady of the APC in Kono. A tentative agenda for the tour is expected to be released soon, with KAST pledging to fund the entire process.
“This united approach reflects a renewed dedication to peace, progress, and shared victory,” said KAST Chairman Melvin Comba Concuwa Alieu.
