The Chairman of the Northwest Region and Executive Committee, Abdul Osman Turay (aka AOT) has on the 15th of December, 2023 successfully launched the Karene District Football Association U-12 & U-14 Youth Leagues.
This initiative is a significant step toward nurturing and developing young talent in football. Chairman AOT’s vision is to complement the SLFA’s Eco-System by ushering youth leagues that will not only provide young children with opportunities to showcase their skills but also create a platform for them to learn and grow in the sport.
The Chairman in his statement laments the enthusiasm of the young players, highlighting the positive impact that such initiatives can have on their physical, mental, and social development. He noted in his statement that it is heartwarming to witness the joy on their faces as they aim to participate in Northwest Region sanctioned leagues.
The Chairman’s commitment to promoting youth football is commendable. By launching the U-12 & U-14 leagues, he is giving children in the Karene District a chance to explore their passion for the game and potentially pursue a football career.
He went on to send a powerful message to the onlookers in Kamakwie about the importance of investing in youth development and grassroots football. He admonished them that seeing these boys dressed colorfully in their football jerseys reminds us of the potential these young footballers possess and the impact they can have on the future of football in Karene District.
