Karadugu community Primary school in Falaba District located in the Northern part of Sierra Leone is challenged with an ideal learning environment with children sitting on the floor due to lack of furniture.
According to the school principal, Mr. Abdurrahman Kulio Marrah the school is yet to benefit from President Bio’s government flagship program of free quality education that is meant to benefit schools in the country. He added that most parents lack the financial support to send their children to school.
Principal Marrah added: “The children bring their own desk to the school or seat on the floor such is not a friendly learning environment.”
We have gathered that these constraints have forced parents to withdraw their children from the school making them roam about in the community.
Due to the withdrawal of many children some have become early mothers and fathers in the community rather than aiming to become respectable citizens.
In stating brief history about the school, Mr. Marrah said it was established in 2016 by the community people and the only school within the section located in the township of Karadugu, Sengbeh chiefdom in Koinadugu district. The said school facility was intended to serve seven villages within the Karadugu chiefdom.
Mr. Marrah said the school lacks quality teachers as he is the only government teacher with pin code and that there is poor road network to access the school.
He concluded by urging the Ministry of Education to respond to the dire situation prevailing in the education sector in that part of the country.
