A large consignment of assorted food items, used clothing and computers have been donated to organizations, schools, individuals and an orphanage in Kono District by the Kono Annual Prestigious Award (KAPA) with support from the Chief Executive Officer of the aforementioned organization (KAPA) Professor Dr. Juldeh Sesay in a ceremony held at the Hon. Sahr Randolf Fillie Faboe memory hall in Tankoro chiefdom Kono District.
Beneficiaries of the donated items include; Koidu Government Hospital ten (10) computers and a projector, the Ministry of Education six (6) computers, Koidu library ten (10) computers, Dr. Aminata Sesay ten (10) computers to train both teachers and Paramount chiefs that are not computer literate.
While the council of Paramount chiefs received three (3) computers and a projector, the Sierra Leone Police and the Republic of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) one computer each.
Ten computers and two digital recorders each to five media houses in Kono district except Radio New Song and Sandor radio.
It could be recalled that before the said donations the following institutions and organizations in the district and country as a whole had also benefited from similar donations: Koidu Secondary School fifty (50) computers, Islamic Senior School Kono (ISSK) forty (40) computers, Koidu girls school (KGS) forty (40) computers, Ansaru Boys Secondary School forty (40) computers, Yengema Secondary School (YSS) thirty (30) computers, IPAM University Twenty five (25) computers and Christ the King College (CKC) Bo twenty-five (25) computers.
Donating the large consignment of assorted food items, used clothing and computers at a ceremony held at the Hon. Sahr Randoff Fillie Faboe Memory Hall, the Chief Executive Officer Kono Annual Prestigious Award (KAPA) Professor, Dr. Juldeh Sesay foremost explained how he started his primary education at the UMC Boys Primary School in Koidu city later proceeded to Koidu Secondary school.
According to him after his secondary school education, he read mechanical Engineering at Fourah Bay College (FBC) noting before and after his university days he served as a teacher and lecturer at the FBC and various schools in Kono district and Freetown to give back to his society and the country as a whole.
He intimated to all present especially the beneficiary school pupils that as a fifth (5th) form pupil he did all menial and domestic jobs to serve his parents whom he loved so much.
Professor Dr. Juldeh Sesay maintained that after performing well in his studies in the country he later proceeded to Germany and America for further studies and acquired the following qualifications: BSC degree, Master in Engineering, Masters in applied Maths and Statistics, Masters in Energy and Technology and PhD in Mechanical engineering and urged the pupils present to do likewise by treating their academic work with the seriousness it deserves.
He thanked his childhood friends for reminding him of what he called the sense of responsibility to extend the said gesture to his people. He further intimated to the audience that owing to his excellent academic performance in a university in the United States of America after his studies he was employed to lecture adding that to date he has served the said university for at least eighteen years.
The Chief Executive Officer of KAPA pointed out the donations of the above-mentioned items especially the computers for the district to follow the technological trend in the world today. According to him he first got access to a computer after his BSC degree and this he stressed must not continue. Professor Dr. Sesay pleaded with the beneficiaries of the donated computers especially the pupils to make good use of them to enhance quality education in the district.
Explaining the overriding justification for the formation of KAPA Professor Dr Sesay noted that the organization which comprises sons and daughters of Kono district was purposely formed to enhance both the education and medical sector in the district noting owing to such purpose donations have also been made to under five children and pregnant women at the Koidu Government Hospital including the less privileged.
Whilst thanking his wife for being supportive of all his interventions, the CEO Kono Annual Prestigious Award implored all and sundry in the district to be peaceful and united as unity is the only driving force for all of his interventions.
Making a statement the Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs Kono District P. C. Emmanuel Tamba T. Foyoh maintained that KAPA is a house hood name under the leadership of its CEO Professor Dr. Juldeh Sesay who he described as an academic giant and as a result, he is using his organization to enhance quality education in the district and the country as a whole.
He, therefore, commended him because at any time he is in the district or country as a whole he does unique things as this is the second time for such similar donations and urged him not to relent. P. C. Foyoh implored the beneficiaries especially the pupils to emulate their benefactor.
On his part the Mayor Koidu New Sembehun City Council His Worship Komba Mathew Sam thanked the CEO for the series of donations made. He said the importance of computers cannot be over-emphasized as they form part of the bloodline of technology today.
He said the donations of computers are a way of developing the human capital of the Kono district and the country as a whole and entreated Professor Dr. Juldeh Sesay to do more.
Meanwhile, similar statements were also made by P. C. Alhaji Kodobundor of Kangama Ngoroma Chiefdom Kono District, Deputy Director of Education Kono District Prince Ngebeh, and conference of principals Kono District Kai Jimmy among other. Whilst the presentation of the importance of computers to the world of technology and training by Dr. Aminata Sesay formed a high point of the donations ceremony.
