The legal battle between Sierra Leonean music icons Kao Denero (real name Amara Dennis Turay) and Famous continued on August 28, 2025, at Magistrate Court No. 4, Pademba Road in Freetown. Presiding Magistrate Adama Kandeh oversaw the session, which showed signs of potential resolution through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) efforts.
Kamanda, legal counsel for Kao Denero, informed the court that an anonymous donor had paid $3,000 to Famous, with additional payments expected. Despite this financial development, Famous reportedly insisted on receiving a public apology a request the magistrate declined to grant, citing concerns about Kao Denero’s mental well-being.
The courtroom was marked by emotional exchanges between the two artists. Famous accused Kao of escalating the dispute through social media but, in a surprising turn, also referred to him as “the best rapper in the country.” Kao, in response, issued an apology in court, emphasizing that he had always considered Famous a brother and denied involvement in any violent incident.
Magistrate Kandeh urged both parties to maintain peace, refrain from public or media commentary, and advise their supporters against making inflammatory statements. She also directed that future proceedings be held in chambers to facilitate a more private resolution.
Kao Denero is currently facing charges of incitement and intimidation related to an alleged incident on February 22, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to September 10, 2025, for further proceedings.
