Members of the Motor Drivers and General Workers Union in Kambia have expressed their utter dissatisfaction and frustration at the failure of the Kambia District Council to provide them an office space with a modernized toilet facility.

Speaking to this medium in a down beat mood at the Park over the weekend,  trailer driver ,Mohamed Fullah said they are embarrassed when they come to the park and feel like  attending to nature with toilet space. He said they normally resort to begging people in the neighborhood.

According to Mr. Fulah, they are paying dues to the council and it is expected that the money will be used for the intended purpose, adding that as the Kambia Park is an international park where vehicles from both Liberia and Guinea loaded with passengers for the international trade fair,  they should have a catered for such facilities.

The drivers from neighboring countries, Fullah said, are also paying dues to council through the drivers’ union for onward delivery to the council but it is disappointing to note that the money is not used to provide facilities at the Park.

Joseph Mansaray, another driver said that they had a toilet but it is overfilled and they have complained to the council but the council is slow to act. He urged the council to spring into action to provide a toilet that befits an International Park.

He said that Driver’s union has a role to play in putting the council on its toes to provide a modernized toilet for the park.

Reacting to the allegation, some of the councils of the Kambia District Council said that the concerns of the drivers are genuine and assured them that the European funded project will address their concerns.
