The Young Women in Governance Network Sierra Leone in Kono District have held their first executive elections at the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) campus in Koidu city – Kono District.
In her statement, the president of the Women in Governance network Rebecca J. Yambasu admonished winners of the said elections to stay away from party politics irrespective of the fact that the organization is aiming at training up young women to go into active politics.
She cautioned that even as women political participation is key for gender empowerment, they as executive members are not required to go into active partisan party politics to avoid future problem in the organization.
Mrs. Yambasu further stated that if any executive members may wish to go into active politics in the future, they should resign their position in the organization forthwith. She said as leaders, they should serve as example to their subjects..
Kadija Nenneh Bona who emerged as the winner for the presidency, thanked SEND Sierra Leone for giving such an opportunity to young people to showcase their interest in politics.
Md. Bona thanked God for His grace upon her life and for as well helping her to clinch the presidency in the organization. Kadija Bona also thanked colleagues for the confidence reposed in her as their president elect and promised to live up to the expectations of all and sundry at all times.
