Juveniles Ordered To Pay Fines Or Served 3 Months Imprisonment

Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 has ordered four Juvenile offenders to alternatively pay a fine of five hundred Leones (NLe500) each or remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.

The four offenders, Baila Koroma 16, and three namely Edward Coker 22, Joseph Sonduyombor 20, and Aruna Sesay 27, were arrested on 11 July 2023 by Detective Police Constable (DPC) 19940 Kargbo P.S and appeared before the court two counts charges of conspiracy and larceny contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

It was alleged by Inspector General Police (IGP) that the accused, on the said date in at Kanikay ‘s Cement Factory  in Freetown , conspired with unknown persons commit to a crime, to wit, larceny.

The charge furthered that the accused, on the same date and place in Freetown, stole four (4) bags rice cement totalling four hundred and sixty Leones (NLe460) belonging to Anthony Sankoh. The said bags contained cement powder.

Having perused the file and considered the plea of the offenders, magistrate Sahr Kekura ordered them to alternatively pay a fine of five hundred Leones (NLe500) each or remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.

He further ordered for the exhibit to be return to the rightful owner pursuant to section 59 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
