Freetown, Sierra Leone – 15-year-old Milford King, a plumber, and Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, a mason, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on charges of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 25(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charge sheet states that on Monday, March 3, 2025, at No.3 Kamara Drive, Milton Margai College Road, Freetown, the accused broke into the dwelling house of Amina Mans and stole a sum of four thousand New Leones, property of Amina Mans.
In the second count, both accused were charged with breaking into the dwelling house of Miss Sarika Kamara on the same date and location, where they allegedly stole one engagement gold and diamond ring valued at $200 (equivalent to 2,400 Leones), one Apple AirPods Pro valued at $200 (equivalent to 4,880 Leones), one tin of body Vaseline valued at 500 New Leones, one HP computer valued at 5,000 New Leones, one external hard drive valued at 2,440 Leones, and other assorted items, totaling 39,870 Leones, all belonging to Sarika Kamara.
When the charges were read to the accused, no plea was entered.
In court, Inspector Bangura M. called witness Amina Mans, a businesswoman, who testified that she recognized the accused and identified Milford as her son. During her testimony, she recalled that she was accompanied by a police officer to her house, where they arrested Milford and brought him to the police station, where she made a statement.
The defense counsel cross-examined Amina Mans in an effort to prove the innocence of the accused and renewed the bail application on their behalf.
Magistrate Kekura granted bail to the second accused, Nyakeh Lahai Kallon, in the sum of 100 Leones with one surety. The surety must be a resident within the court’s jurisdiction and provide a valid identity card. Bail for the first accused, Milford King, was continued.
The case has been adjourned to April 10, 2025.
