In Freetown, Justice Momoh Jah Steven highlighted the significance of fasting in Islam, urging Muslims to observe the practice with sincerity, patience, and devotion. Delivering his sermon on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Masjid Al-Fatha, he reminded believers that fasting is a command from Allah designed to help them abstain from food, water, and intimacy, ultimately fostering better behaviour and spiritual growth.

Justice Steven emphasised that fasting is not a form of punishment but a means of attaining blessings and rewards from Allah. “Fasting strengthens our health, especially by boosting white blood cells. It also serves as a shield against evil deeds,” he said.

Encouraging Muslims to approach fasting with commitment, he highlighted its numerous benefits, both spiritual and physical. He urged everyone to practice kindness, avoid bullying, and demonstrate patience, particularly with their parents.

“Fasting should go hand in hand with prayer,” he reminded the congregation, before offering a special dua for all Muslims, asking Allah to accept their good deeds and bring them closer to Him.
