The accused person John Alie Sankoh alias ‘Strong life’ a car washer of Jalloh Terrace Kuntoloh Wellington appeared before Justice Monfred. M. Sesay (JA), a Court Appeals Court Judge for the second time on two count charges on the 30th September, 2021 at the High Court in Freetown. The judge refused to hear the matter because the accused person appeared without face mask in court and he was taken back to the Male Correctional Center.
The accused person is before the court on one count charge of burglary and larceny contrary to section 25(1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and section 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
The particulars of offense stated that the accused person John Alie Sankoh alias Strong life on the 29th September, 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area in the republic of Sierra Leone with intent to steal therein broke and entered into the dwelling house of Patrick Lokoh Conteh and stole therein one LG mobile phone valued one hundred thousand Leones (Le100,000/00), and one musical Bluetooth valued two hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le250,000/00) all to the total valued at two million three hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le2,350,000/00) property of Samuel Karankay Conteh.
Representing the State is Lawyer Solomon Christian Kekura while Lawyer Komba Kanu is representing the accused person.
Addressing the court, the Judge said he considered that as negligent on the part of the Correctional Personnel they are creating the life of the accused person and them self and others at the risk of COVID-19 he ordered that the accused person remanded in custody and he therefore adjourned this matter to the 7th October, 2021.
